We have already considered people, process, products and services as key elements of the BSI organisational resilience model.
Let's now consider the 4th element of the model which is leadership and management.
The key elements of leadership and management which are;
Leadership and management
Vision and Purpose
Reputation
Financial Aspects
Resource management
What is the quality of leadership and management in your organisation?
Do the employees a d owners of the enterprise know why it exists and what it is supposed to do? Do they buy into this?
What is the reputation of the organisation both actual and perceived? What do you think of 6our organisation and what do others think of it?
Financial Aspects are important and include liquidity, profitability, reserves, ability to meet short and long term liabilities, ability to predict and meet future and current risks, cash resources, project planning and management.
These Financial Aspects are a component of leadership and management but many people see this as the only aspect of resilience. It isn't
Yet some people think this is the whole story.
Resource management involves using the right levels of resources to produce products and services.
What can the the leadership and management element of the 4 point of the BSI model teach us?
We need to look at all 4 elements to tackle resilience that is people, process, products and services and finally leadership and management.
If we don't look at all 4 of these elements we won't have a hope of winning the resilience battle.
We may be financially strong but that doesn't mean we are resilient.
We need a balanced approach to resilience.
Do we do this?
